ISSA appoints Magnus Asgeirsson as Nasdaq’s representative for its OC

The International Securities Services Association (ISSA) has appointed Magnus Asgeirsson as Nasdaq’s representative for its operating committee (OC).

Asgeirsson currently serves as managing director of Nasdaq Central Securities Depository (CSD) in Iceland. He also heads business development at Nasdaq CSD.

Joining Nasdaq Iceland in 2007, Asgeirsson’s first role with the firm incorporated legal coordination within the surveillance department of Nasdaq Iceland. He later became a senior surveillance analyst for Nasdaq‘s market surveillance in the Nordics.

In 2011, Asgeirsson headed legal and compliance support towards Nasdaq’s regulated entities in Iceland, Nasdaq Iceland (Iceland’s stock exchange) and Nasdaq CSD Iceland.

Asgeirsson became CEO of Nasdaq CSD Iceland in 2018 and coordinated the project which led to the merger and consolidation of Nasdaq CSD Iceland and Nasdaq CSD, which secured Nasdaq CSD Iceland‘s compliance with the EU’s CSDR regulation.

Commenting on Asgeirsson’s new appointment via LinkedIn, ISSA says: “We welcome Magnus to the ISSA OC and are delighted that he has taken on the role.”
